Royal Institute of Art

The Royal Institute of Art has been educating artists and architects since 1735. It is Sweden’s largest institution of higher education in Fine Art and Architecture. The faculty of artists, theoreticians, and architects at the Royal Institute of Art is highly acclaimed, both at the national level and internationally. Students are trained to enter the field of artistic and architectural practice at the highest level.

The Royal Institute of Art offers a five-year program in Fine Art and a two-year master’s degree in Fine Art. The postgraduate program offers professional development in Fine Art and Architecture with a focus on research methodology and project-based artistic research. Around 230 students are currently enrolled, and the school is supported by 70 employees. As of 2021 the institute is organized into two departments, each with a board and a prefect. The Institute is located on Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm alongside other key arts and cultural institutions. The main building will be renovated in 2024-2025 in order to consolidate teaching and research activities.

The Royal Institute of Art provides an education with its faculty of seminal artists, theoreticians and architects from Sweden and abroad, by virtue of which alumni and currently enrolled students alike receive acclaim nationally, as well as internationally.

The Royal Institute of Art offers a five-year program in Fine Art and a two-year master’s degree in Fine Art. Additionally, it offers continuing professional development in Fine Art and Architecture with a focus on research methodology, as well as postgraduate projects related to artistic research and development. We have at present a body of some 230 students and 70 employees. As of 2021, the Institute is organized into two departments, each with a Board and Head. Our workplace is located on Skeppsholmen, in central Stockholm, amid several art and cultural institutions. Our main building is scheduled to undergo renovation in 2024-2025, with the aim of consolidating our operations.

We are now looking for two teaching assistants who will support the daily work with further education at the Department of Research and Further Education.

 

Work Tasks
As a teaching assistant, you have contact with both prospective and admitted students to our further education. You assist course teachers in their administrative work. You will have contact with guest teachers and artists both within and outside the university college. The main work tasks are distribution of course material, coordinating schedules, contacts with students, contacts with guest teachers and some financial administration.

Qualification requirements
Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and programmes may be employed as teaching assistants. You should have good knowledge of the education's structure and pedagogical idea. Good computer skills and good knowledge of English are required. As the work involves daily contacts both with students and staff, it is important that you are service minded and have a high sense of responsibility as well as a good sense of order. You should be proactive and interested in collaborating with several different staff groups.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary employment according to the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5, Section 12. The scope of the employment is 25% and the duration is 10 months. Starting date in August 2022 or as otherwise agreed.
